A saucepan is a container used to heat liquids. Usually, it has a handle and is used on top of a stove with a burner. Saucepans are made of ceramic, stainless steel, discolored metal, aluminum or copper. They can also be made of materials like glass or silicone. They are used to heat foods in liquids that should not be boiled. Porridge can be cooked in a pot over low heat while sauces and curries can be cooked in a pan that is brought to the boil first.
